With an aim of better aligning operating expenses with near-term revenue expectations and more efficiently implement its product strategy, Hillsboro, Ore-based programmable logic company Lattice Semiconductor Corp has initiated a restructuring plan that calls for headcount to be reduced by approximately 125 employees, or approximately 14% of the company’s workforce.

IBM Corp. said today that it has started joint development work with Taiwan-based Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) to explore an approach to solid state memory called "racetrack memory," which was conceived by IBM Fellow Dr. Stuart Parkin at IBM's Almaden Research Center in San Jose, Calif.

SanDisk rejects the $26 in cash per share offer saying it significantly undervalues the company and is an "opportunistic attempt to take advantage of SanDisk's current stock price." While some analysts believe SanDisk is viewing its stock price though "the rearview mirror" and with "rose colored glasses," others believe the stock will rebound and note the company's large memory IP portfolio.
